Sharon Bonner is swapping marketing for moggies to run her own The Cat Butler Franchise and is looking forward to bringing The Cat Butler's premium cat sitting service to Surrey (Kingston upon Thames, Surbiton, Thames Ditton, East & West Molesey, Esher, Walton-on-Thames and Sunbury-on-Thames) and Greater London (Twickenham, Teddington, Hampton and Feltham).

What Did Life Look Like For You Before You Joined The Cat Butler?

I have spent over 30 years working in the fragrance and cosmetic industry. I started my working life in retail and then moved to a head office environment, finishing my career in a senior marketing role. The time I have spent in the industry has been amazing and I wouldn’t change a thing, but I knew that the company that I had worked with for 24 years would be closing as the owners wanted to retire, so the time had come to think of myself and my future dreams and aspirations.

I had spent many years commuting into London daily but since lockdown working from home had become the norm and I loved it. Working from home has enabled me to be with my cats all day and to have a much better work/life balance, I really didn’t want to go back to the daily slog so I decided I needed to do something for myself that I would love and then I found The Cat Butler!

What Was It About The Cat Butler that Appealed To You?

 I was scrolling through Facebook and an eye-catching advert popped up…. The Cat Butler franchise…could this be what I had been looking for? Is it too good to be true? I filled in the franchise questionnaire, what did I have to lose? I love cats and my skills lie in marketing, which could be a winning combination.

Looking at the website, it was so professional and concise, clearly the creator had captured the essence of what I would look for in a sitter! The first call I had with Sandra (the founder and franchisor), felt like it was meant to be, and I instantly felt that the business opportunity was something that I had been looking for. 

I was given the financials and my franchise territory, and it was all laid out so well with the training that I felt it was clearly a great business opportunity but firstly a service that understood cats and their owners and that’s something I want to be a part of.

Tell Us About Your Feline Family

My two girls are Bertie AKA Bumble (Fluffy black and white, who we thought was a boy until our 2nd vet visit, but by then the name had stuck!) and Gertie AKA Gumdrop (slightly overweight tabby). They are both 15 and to say they are my life is an understatement. I adore them, they both have such different personalities and I have always felt that it would be very hard to find another person that understood them the way that I did. 

I know I’m the person who can help people who feel the same way as I do.

You are either a cat person or you’re not and I most definitely am!

What Does the Future Hold?

The future will hold a new life filled with purrs and cuddles. I can’t wait to start building my business and getting The Cat Butler out in the local community, I aim to provide a professional, knowledgeable, premium service, and want my clients to feel confident and without anxiety when they leave their fur babies in my capable hands, with the understanding that I know how they feel.

The tools that The Cat Butler team have given me are amazing and with the support I have from Sandra and the other franchisees, I cannot fail!
