In December 2023, inspired by my fellow Cat Butlers, I took part in Cat's Protection's Miles For Moggies Challenge and became a proud ”Cat Champion” – to raise much-needed funds for cats and kittens in need.
On a wet and windy Thursday in December, I donned my waterproofs, put on my hiking boots and set out to “run” 10K along the Wirral Way.
However, due to poor route planning and an impromptu detour, I actually ended up doing 26,964 steps / 10.94 miles (just shy of a half marathon!). My walk (oops I’ve let it slip now!) took about 5 hours, including a quick re-fuelling at The Blue Bicycle in Neston.
I set a fundraising target of £100 to raise funds for Cats Protection North Wirral Branch but raised an amazing £111.
£47 is the average cost of neutering one cat, which could in turn prevent thousands of unwanted kittens from being born so every penny counts and can make a big difference.
Cats Protection is the UK's largest feline welfare charity. They help an average of 157,000 cats and kittens every year thanks in no small part to their network of over 210 volunteer-run branches and 34 centres.
It might be too late to join in The Miles for Moggies 2023 fundraising challenge but there’s something for everyone when it comes to fundraising and events!
