Being a keen supporter of Cats Protection and having donated by monthly direct debit for many years I decided to see if I could raise some much-needed funds to help my local branch Sutton, Kingston & District so I have decided to take part in Cat's Protection's Big Winter Roam and aim to walk 50 miles in February.
I set up my Just Giving page and my local community cat owners group - Kingston and Elmbridge Cat Owners - and friends and family have been so supportive. It's been amazing and I know I will smash my target!
I am so lucky to have some amazing walks on my doorstep - Bushy Park, Hampton Court Gardens and along the River Thames are just a few of the beautiful locations that I will be walking during the month of February and I would encourage anyone to get out there and help or donate to such a great cause.
Cats Protection helps an estimated 157,000 cats and kittens a year through a national network which includes 210 volunteer-run branches and 34 centres.
Their work doesn’t stop there, however; they also provide an array of cat care information via their The Cat Magazine and website - Help and Advice and National Information Line - promoting the benefits of neutering to prevent unwanted litters from being born and becoming the abandoned cats of tomorrow and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care.
